STAR just got its first official review in the Oct.8th edition of The Winnipeg Sun... and it's fabulous!

Darryl Sterdan gave STAR an exceptional 4 stars, calling it an "emotionally moving pop-rock concept album. Brilliantly polished by Mike Petkau's spacy, atmospheric production." Nice!

In other news, CJMQ 88.9 FM (Sherbrooke, QC) and CJSW 90.9 FM (Calgary) have also added STAR to their radio programming.

In other words, it's been a good couple of weeks :)

Canadian college and university radio stations are all back in full swing, and more fine stations are adding STAR to their playlists. A big thanks to CHMR 93.5 FM (St John's, NF), CHYZ 94.3 FM (Sainte-Foy, QC), CFRC 101.9 FM (Kingston, ON), CKMS 100.3 FM (Waterloo, ON), and CRLC (Lethbridge, AB) for coming on board!

In even better news, STAR has just cracked the Top 30 @ CFOU 89.1 FM (Trois Rivieres, QC). Merci!!!

More hip Canadian college radio stations adding STAR to their playlists: CFFF 92.7 FM (Peterborough), CIUT 89.5 FM (Toronto), CFMU 93.3 FM (Hamilton), CJTR 91.3 FM (Regina), CKXU/CKUL 88.3 FM (Lethbridge), CFBX 92.5 FM (Kamloops), CFRT 107.3 FM (Iquluit), and CHIP 101.7 FM (Fort Coulogne). Plus the ever-fine folks at CBC have started spinning tracks. Sweet! Next update in 2 weeks...

Copies of STAR are just getting opened by college radio stations across Canada, but already the fine music directors at CFOU 89.1 FM (Trois-Rivières), CIBL 101.5 FM (Montréal) and UMFM 101.5 FM (Winnipeg) have added the album to rotation. Nice! Next update in 2 weeks...

After an interminable wait, the 1st shipment of "Star" CD's has arrived. Naturally, they look fabulous. I'll let you know when and how you can get your hands on 'em soon :)

It's been well worth the long, long wait. "Star" is finally being pressed at the factory. Nice :)

Thanks to author and event coordinator Anita Daher, I had the wonderful opportunity to perform songs at Kelly Hughes Live! The event also featured readings and interviews with Winnipeg authors Kate Bitney, Rob Keough, Bruce McManus, Christina Penner and Barbara Romanik, and took place above the tres chic Aqua Books. If you haven't been there, you've just gotta go!

I got to pretend I was a cover model last night. Craig and photographer Jerry Grajewski directed me through many poses with unique lighting setups to get cool headshots... and actually succeeded! So coming soon to a poster near you... my big head.

FYI: Craig Medwyduk @ Guppy Design has come up with a slick cover and layout design for "Star". If you recall, he also designed THB's "Remember" so naturally, I have high expectations :) I'll keep you posted. By the way, I plan to acoustically preview the songs off "Star" on Sat. April 25th @ Yellow Dog Tavern. It'd be great to see you there!

I've got the completed master for my solo record (which I have decided to call STAR) in my hands and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Now to finish the cover design...

I am officially awed that George Graves at Lacquer Channel Mastering in Toronto is going to master my solo album. Since George has mastered many great albums including U2's "Joshua Tree", Feist's "The Reminder", Loreena McKennitt's "The Visit", The Rheostatics "Melville" (a personal favourite), plus albums by Rush, Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper, Kim Mitchell, Cowboy Junkies, Sloan, Big Sugar, Shania Twain, etc. I am quite anxious to hear how he decides to polish my record.

Exactly one year ago, on the 1st Monday of March, Michael Petkau and I started to record a record. That record is now recorded and mixed. I am so stoked that I can't get myself to go to bed...
